Obituary of Nettie Louise Wilson

Please share a memory of Nettie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
From her birth, in Lumberton North Carolina on the 16th of September 1926, till her passing, Nettie Wilson nourished people around her with love, faith and inner strength. Born the fourth of five children, Nettie lived to survive her parents Anderson and Louise Thompson and her siblings, Charles, Margaret, Paul and Fred. Not long after graduating from Lumberton's Hilly Branch High School, Nettie joined her siblings in Philadelphia. There she met Mr. Owen Wilson, who became her husband in November of 1947. Nettie and Owen remained together until his passing in 1981. In 1956 they traded the house they owned in Camden for a farm in Atco. Over the years, that farm became a home and meeting place for family and friends. It provided many loving memories for all who knew them. Nettie loved to sew. For years, she worked as a seamstress in Philly and was quick to tell you that she was "good at it". She was a cook for the Head Start Program at Calvary Baptist Church and worked with maintenance for the WinslowTownship School System. After retiring from Winslow Township she was the administrator/cook for the Senior Citizens Lunch Program at Grant A.M.E. Church in Chesihurst. The Heart of the family, Nettie impressed many with tireless Christian example. Deaconess Nettie attended Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served as an Usher, a Silverstone Choir member, a Deaconess Board member, and Finally earned the title of Mother of the Church. Nettie went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Roberta Seay (Robert) of West Berlin, New Jersey : sister-in-law Alma Thompson;grandchildren Alisia Griffin (Robert), Tonya Jones, Robert Jones, Kenneth Thompson (Nikki), Kelly Burke (Martha), and Albert Burke: thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Nettie Wilson touched the lives of many people with her smile and her strength. Her endurance and sense of humor, even to the end, was an inspiration to all who were blessed enough to share time with her.
