Ms. Myrtle Miller was born on April 18, 1932 to the late Emily Jordan Freeman and Walter P. Hopkins in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Affectionately called “Myrtle Lee”, by all of her close friends and family, and of course, “Mommy, Grandma or Nana” by her children and grandchildren alike, she was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. Myrtle was employed as a Teacher’s Aide, under the auspices of the School System of Philadelphia, whereby she retired from the T.M. Peirce School after more than 30 years of service. She also freelanced as a soloist musician, showcasing her talent as an accomplished pianist and first soprano alike. Ms. Myrtle Miller, age 84, passed on December 7, 2016. Myrtle is survived by one ( 1 ) brother, Mr. Fred Jordan of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, four (4) daughters: Ms. Cynthia Gail Bennett of Clementon, New Jersey, Mrs.Marguerite Jeanette Graves (Donald) of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Chaplain (CPT) Marcella Jerraine’ Barnett (Stevan) of Toney, Alabama and Ms. Melissa Joyce Teasley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to the above, Myrtle is further survived by thirteen (13) grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
