Obituary of Nathan Lee Dixon

Please share a memory of Nathan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nathan Lee Dixon Sr. was born October 1, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the only child of Emerson and Elsie Dixon. Nathan grew up in North Philadelphia and attended Public School. In 1945, Nathan met and married Celia Spellman. She preceded him in death and from their union came three children, Vera and Kathleen and Nathan Lee Dixon Jr. At the age of 18, Nathan enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II to support his family and to protect his country. Throughout his life, he enjoyed being his own boss and owned two grocery stores in the North Philadelphia area. He was also a self taught truck driver for Shanahan Motor Company for over 30 years. At one time, he worked independently, owned three trucks, and employed three drivers. He was a successful business man who also loved his toys: cadillacs, a motorcycle and a boat. Anyone who knew Nathan, knew that he had very strong opinions. Because of his passion for politics, he ran for a council seat in the borough of Chesilhurst. This was the perfect place for him to advocate for the community in which he served for over 15 years. Later in life, Nathan met and married Ethel Williams and raised five children, Tony, Ronald, Brian, Stephen and Natalie. Nathan loved dancing and partying and spending time with his best buddies Uncle Johnny, who proceeds him in death, and cousins Spencer, (aka Jr.), and Sara Dixon, his long- time care taker. Nathan Leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children, grandchildren and in laws; Vera McCloskey, brother-in-law, Bryant, Kathleen Gambrell, brother-in-law Ben, Nathan Dixon Jr., daughter-in-law Debbie, Natalie Williams, brother-in-law James, Stephen Williams, sister-in-law, Michelle, Ronald Williams, Tony Williams, and Brian Williams; Grandchildren; Jennifer, Angie, Ben III, Marshall, Vanessa, Dan, Isora, Tanya, Moshes, Eshema, Nathan III, Nikita, Stephen Christopher, Debanek, Alicia, Tia, Marcus, Sabrina, and Sydney; Great grandchildren; Jarred, Shawna, Porscha, Moshes Jr. Kris, Ahmad, Breana, Ariana, Ben IV, Samson, Soloman, Kaylee, Masaah, Kaydin, Legend, Ahmaya; Great great grandchildren; Payton.
