Obituary of Donna Marie Simms

Donna Marie Simms was born on September 21, 1954, to the late Walter B. and Lillian Simms. She departed this life on Monday November 11, 2019, at the Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Donna was born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey and spent her last five years in Greensboro, North Carolina.  She was educated in the Atlantic County School system and she was employed by the Resorts Casino and Hotel for twenty years before retiring.  

Donna enjoyed spending time with family and friends, grandkids especially.  She always welcomed her home with open doors and arms to whomever she came into contact with.  She had a contagious smile and always loved to laugh.

Donna is predeceased by her companion of forty-six years, Thomas Walker; siblings, Ellastine Weekes, Joyce Ross, Deborah Simms, Walter Simms Jr., and William Simms; and brother-in-law, William Weekes.

Donna leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Walter T. Simms (Deirdra) of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Jodie Simms of Greensboro, North Carolina,  Franklin Simms, Adam Ross and Derrick Ross, all of Atlantic City, New Jersey;  brother, Robert E. Simms; eleven grandchildren, Natayjia Simms-Evans, Zy’Nia Simms, Khalil Simms, Zyana Simms-Tolbert, Franklin Simms, Xavier Simms, and Amya Evans; favorite niece, Stacey M. Weekes; best friends of over 40 years, Char-Lynn Mozelle and Mary Ann Bennett; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
