Obituary of Mary E. Lyons

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Elizabeth Nash was born on February 25, 1921 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. She was the 2nd to last child of 8 children born to Sarah Dolby and Jesse Nash. At the age of 3, after the passing of her mother, she was relocated to Wildwood, New Jersey where she would reside until she was 16 years old. Little Mary then sought out a new life in the big city of Philadelphia, PA. Mary was always a hard worker. She was gainfully employed at the Campbell Soup Factory for 13 years, and it was during that time she met the love of her life, Mr. Judson Thomas Lyons Sr. a Corporal in the US. Army. The two were married in 1946 just after the end of World War II and together, they built their family home on Boundary Rd in Jericho, NJ. On June 24, 1948, they gave birth to their first child, a baby girl - Judsine Marceletta Lyons. Then, on September 2, 1949 their second child, and first son Judson T Lyons Jr. & on April 17, 1951 they welcomed their 2nd baby boy, Charles Wesley Lyons whom was the only child out of the 3 to be delivered in a hospital. Judsine and Judson were both born at home. On April 24,1953, the unfortunate and untimely passing of her husband Judson left her to care for their 3 children on her own. Throughout the years, she worked odd jobs to ensure and maintain the stability and wellbeing of her home and children. Mary and her 3 children were baptised at the North Baptist church in North Woodbury where she was a member for many years. Within time, she became a member of the United Methodist church on Glassboro Rd. Her love for the Lord and for the word of the bible got her through even the darkest of days. On October 30, 1977, she was again met with tragic loss, as her daughter Judsine passed away at the age of 29. Still, she sought and always found comfort in the Lord. Mary was well known and loved wherever she went..and she would often strike up a conversation whether it was over a game of cards, a neighbor in the grocery store or a stranger at the bank. She was indeed a people magnet and she would always tell the truth regardless of the situation, whether you could handle it or not. Mary often used bible verses or whitty idioms to shed light or bring humor to on any situation. She permeated wisdom and always tried to teach her family that "two wrongs don't make a right." There were many trials, tribulations, and triumphs seen by Mary in her glorious 99 years, all of which contributed to her astute nature. There could never be just one part to a person. Mary had several parts. She had her faults as most people do. But she also had a soul piercing grin that could strike any remnants of coldness from the human heart & Her most beloved attribute was her kind and giving spirit. If she had it she would give it. Mary went home to be with her Lord and savior on June 18, 2020 peacefully with her family at her bedside in the very home she built with her late husband 74 years ago. Our matriarch leaves behind her 2 sons Judson, his wife Geraldine & Charles and his wife Suni; 9 granddaughters: Judsine Lyons-Upsher, Mandy Underwood, Wonlia Blain, Genny Lyons, Tashina Andrus, Brandy Lyons, Punee Champion, Marcia Dudley, & Arreeya Seangnin 3 Grandsons: Charles Wesley Lyons Jr, Judson Thomas Lyons III & Brandon Lyons. Mary also leaves behind 16 great grand children, and 17 great-great grandchildren. She will be loved and cherished in our memory forever.
