Obituary of Judith Ann Savoy

Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Judith Ann Savoy born Judith Ann Avery was the last of six children, born on March 23, 1955, to George and Corine Avery in Camden, New Jersey.

Judith also known as Judith Ann, attended Lower Camden County Regional School District. She graduated from Overbrook Regional High School in Pine Hill, NJ. She also expanded her education in the Nursing field where she received a Nursing Assistant Certificate.

Judy volunteered at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ as a Candy Striper in the 80’s. From there she worked at several health facilities as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Moyer Mitchell for a short period. Her last job was at Arc of Camden County before she had to stop working due to declining health issues. In June of 1995, Judy married Thomas (Tommy) Savoy. Together they raised 2 children Tavares Avery Sr. and daughter Shanice Ferby (Avery).

At a young age, Judy was introduced to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This changed her life forever. Thanks to her best friend Darlene, they vowed to live their life for The Lord. Judy loved The Lord. She was a faithful member of Green Grove Baptist Church. She attended church regularly until her health declined and she was unable to attend in person. Although she was not there in person, she faithfully watched every Sunday.

Judy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Anyone who knew Judy knew how independent she was. She was the true definition of “we outside” or “catch me if you can”. Judy stayed on the go in her Lexus (which was her mobile wheelchair). You could find her just about anywhere, the mall, Kmart, Shop Rite, Bank or CVS. She was truly a strong-willed woman. Judy never allowed her sickness or anything to cripple her or get her down. She also had an unconquerable spirit. She could handle anything thrown at her with grace. She never wanted pity and tried to do as much as she could on her own without asking for help. She was the most stubborn, determined, and positive person you would come across.

Early Thursday morning on June 26, 2025, The Lord called unto his daughter to come rest in him. Judy battled being sick for many years. Now she is free from pain and suffering and rejoicing with her Heavenly Father. Judy’s memory will forever live in the hearts of everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her parents; George and Corine Avery, Husband; Thomas Savoy, Mother & Father In-Law; James & Bernice, Sister; Maxine, Brothers; Joseph & Walter; Sister-In-Laws; Dee-Dee, Yvonne, Brenda, Neicy & Audrey; Brother-in-Laws; Jimmy & Alonzo and lastly Samara.
