Obituary of Jamilah Ashly Burch

Jamilah Ashley Burch was born in Voorhees, New Jersey on May 28, 1995, to Yolanda N. Burch and Clarence Jones Jr.

Jamilah affectionately had several nicknames: Phat-Phat, Millie, Milah and Pia.

She attended Lindenwold school system in Lindenwold, New Jersey, and Winslow Township School system in Winslow, New Jersey. In her late teens, she moved to Georgia and Attended South Gwinnett High, In Snellville, Georgia. After going back to New Jersey, she received her diploma at Rowan College, Glassboro, New jersey.

She was Christen at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where also excepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a teenager.

There was a special group that they called “Sisters” which included Imani Andrews- O’Neil. Ivana Andrews- O’Neil (cousins) Sabrina Gonzales, Mercedes Gonzales, Kala El-Amin and Jaszmyn Burch (sister).  She had a host of friends in New Jersey and in Georgia, where she lived. She touched the hearts of many.

Jamilah was blessed with a step-father Lamont Banks who claimed her as his own and she called him daddy. He would dress her and give her Afro puffs for school. He remained in her life from birth to the very end. He always said that was his Phat-Phat. She also had another step-father Mark Vinson who was there and helped her along the way. She was blessed with three dads Deacon Clarence Jones, Lamont Bank and Mark Vinson who loved her and she loved them.

She leaves to mourn her daughter Ari’ane Cali 3 years old. Her mother Yolanda Burch her father Deacon Clarence Jones Jr., Her stepfathers Lamont Banks and Mark Vinson.  Grandparents Rhonda and (Michael) Randall, James A. Burch Sr. and Carolyn, Bishop Clarence and Ruby Jones Sr. from Lithonia Georgia and Evangelist Zelder and Elder Ewart Wynter from New Castle Delaware. Robert and Rita Presbury from Camden, New Jersey. Henry and Mamie Vinson Sr. from Lindenwold, New Jersey. Great Grandparents Ralph and Lorraine O’Neil from Sicklerville, New Jersey.  Four sisters Jaszmyn Burch, Ciani Hill, Laniyah Banks, Trinity Banks and two brothers Mark-Anthony Vinson and Israel Banks. Six Uncles and 4 Aunts James and Teahna Burch Jr., Bishop Kenneth and Chevon Jones, Miah L. Burch and Staci L. Burch, Cameron Banks, Warren Henry and Mordeeke Presbury, Henry Vinson Jr. and Michael Vinson and two great aunts Sharon and Deborah O’Neil and a host of relatives and friends.
