Obituary of Denise Olivia Johnson
Denise "Neicey" Olivia Johnson, of Sicklerville, NJ went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Camden, NJ to Joel and Laraine (Williams) Johnson on December 14th, 1960, but moved to Lawnside, NJ in 1970.
Neicey attended Haddon Heights High School and graduated in 1979. During her high school years she met the father to her children, Collin M. Johnson at a skating rink. They were avid roller skaters and also enjoyed drive-in theaters and going to local parks. Later, they had 1 son and 1 daughter.
After high school, Neicey attended Rutgers University for a short time. She then went to work in Atlantic City at various casino / hotels as a waitress and housekeeper. In 1986, while she was a waitress at the Golden Nugget Casino, she attend Atlantic County College Casino School in Atlantic City, NJ . She took classes in the evening after working long hours during the day to get her dealer license in the games of craps and roulette. In 1990, she opened up Trump Taj Mahal Casion, where she was a craps and roulett dealer. In 2013, she deceided to follow her dreams and go back to school for nursing while continuing to work part-time at Trump Taj Mahal Casino until her dreams were cur short when she became ill in 2015.
Neicey was an independent, strong, selfless, hard worker, who loved God, loved to laugh and took pride in raising her granddaughter. She was a thrill seeker that loved amusement parks, flowers, nature and animals.
She is survied by her mother, Laraine Johnson; father, Joel M. Johnson (Minnie); father of her children, Collin M. Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Nakia and Anthony Lynn Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Kenyatta Johnson; brother, Eric Smith; sister Michelle Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Danielle and James Smitherman; 4 grandchildren, Niara, Christian, Savannah, Derrick Jr., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
