Obituary of Teesha T Johnson
Teesha Travonne Johnson, affectionately known as “Mommy” and “Teesh”, was born a twin on
November 21, 1979 in Washington Township, NJ; one of four children born to Shirley LaVerne Reynolds
and the late Louis Malcolm Johnson. Teesha suffered an untimely death, summoned to eternal rest on
Sunday, November 12, 2017.
Teesha attended elementary school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Beverly, NJ and continued her
education in the Willingboro Public School System, graduating from Willingboro High School in 1998. In
high school Teesha was a member of various organizations including the prestigious National Honor
Society. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University – New
Brunswick, NJ in 2002. In 2004, Teesha received a Master’s Degree from The College of New Jersey in
Marriage and Family Therapy and then attained licensure as a Professional Counselor in 2012.
Teesha worked in the Mental Health field for 15 years where she impacted hundreds of lives. She always
worked tirelessly to ensure that families obtained the services they needed. She worked as a Clinical
Care Manager, Youth Care Worker, Shelter Therapist, Family Resource Specialist, Therapist, Supervisor of
Therapeutic Foster Care, Adolescent Residential Services Director, and Clinician. In all of these roles, she
was an unwavering voice for those who couldn’t advocate for themselves.
No one could deny that Teesha gave selflessly and was the light of any room. Her smile was big and
bright to warm the hearts of all who encountered her. Teesha’s love for others was enormous and
infectious. Whatever she had, she shared so willingly, even at her own expense. There was nothing too
big or too small to ask of Teesha – she was always there. Teesha was a devoted daughter, caring sister, a
loving mother, a loyal friend, and servant of God’s work.
The greatest love of her life were her children. Her life was devoted to bringing delight to their minds
and hearts. Teesha’s undying devotion to her children was clear in all she did and in all she aspired to be.
From outings at the library, to sunny days at the beach, to adventures at Six Flags, cool concerts,
shopping sprees, spa days, festivities at the circus, road trips, simple walks in the parks, and spending
quality time with family and friends. They were her strength and pride.
Teesha’s cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those she left behind. She is survived
by her mother Shirley Reynolds; her three daughters Jada, Jayani, Mila, and son Jahmir; and her long
time love and children’s father Jamil, her brothers Roderick, Deon, and her twin sister Tia; nephews
Demetrius, Antwon, Roderick “Yokie”, Richard, Jahmir, Tashaun; nieces Taria, Brittany, Eiesha, Gabrielle,
Teonna. She will be dearly missed by a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
