Obituary of Willie Belle Speller
Willie was born on March 15, 1924 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late Ida B. Walter B. Barnes. One of fifteen, she was predeceased by all of her fourteen siblings.
Willie migrated to Philadelphia, PA where she attended grade school. She then moved to Palmyra, NJ where she attended middle school and graduated from Palmyra High School.
After attending the John Wanamaker Millinery school, Willie became a maker of ladies hats. In addition to making hats, Willie worked as a seamstress at Century Mills where she retired after thirty years of service.
Willie met and married the love of her life, Milton, who predeceased her.
Willie joined Zoar United Methodist Church at an early age and has been a faithful member throughout the years; serving in many different capacities.
Willie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Adeste’ Fidelis Chapter 45. She served proudly for many years until her health failed.
Willie leaves to cherish her memory, six nieces, Toya, Willie Dean (Alex), Janet (John), Beverly (Ali), Cheryl and Brenda; five nephews, Hillary, Lawrence (Laurel), Jeffery, Nicolas and Lambert; one sister-in-law, Rebecca and a host of relatives and friends.
