Obituary of William L. Butler

William Louis Butler was born on February 6, 1943 in Durham, NC to the late Louis and Dicy Butler.  He was the 1st born of 7 children.  Sometime later, they moved to Cinnaminson, NJ better known as East River.

While attending high school in the Palmyra school district, he met and fell in love with Marjorie "Margie" Pratt.  The two were married on October 19th, 1963 and became a family with there new baby girl.

In his early teens, William became a mechanic working alongside his father Louis.  When his younger brother John was old enough, he also joined them in the "World of fixing Cars"!  Bill worked for Cassidy Auto and several other establishments until he went out on his own.  You could ride by his house any day of the week and see him tinkering in the garage or in the yard under somebody's hood.

Bill was an amateur race car driver.  He loved to race at Atco Raceway, McGuire and many other tracks.  He won many trophies but his biggest win was in Yorktown, Pa., when he was awarded "Top Dog". 

William was close with his family; especially his sisters.  He would talk to them everyday on the phone!  He was always on the phone talking to somebody while watching his favorite TV programs: The Price is Right, Gas Monkey Garage, Judge Judy, Matlock and don't forget Tru TV.

Mr. "B" was also a serious card player; Poker, Pity Pat and Pinochle were his favorites.   He always wanted to "rub someones's head" in Pinochle every chance he got!  In his later years, one of his favorite activites was playing late night Poker with his friends.  His game was (Queens and 10's all the time) The game became known as "Mr. B".

E*A*G*L*E*S EAGLES! Bill was a diehard Eagles fan!  He would answer the phone on game day "Eagles Nest" THANK GOD he witnessed the "Superbowl Championship!

After several amputations and declining health, his family members and close friends really went "ALL IN" to help him maintain a reasonable quality of life.

His nephew Michael Bennett: was like a son, a campanion and took care of his daily needs for several years.  Bille Teamoh: who would help him with big automotive jobs, yard work, fixing things, and also stayed in the house.  Sonji Kendal: was like a daughter, always came when he called to do whatever, whenever  he needed something done. Jay B: his nephew was like a son, he would ride and check on him or call and make sure his Uncle William was ok. Daivd: his grandson, would come from Williamstown to take him some food or give him his insulin needles.

William was predeceased by his brother John and sister Louise.  William leaves to mourn his loss: Daughter Dana L. Butler of Williamstown, Sisters: Etta Bennett of Cinnaminson, Carolyn (Mark) Cabrol of Laurel MD, Marie (Tony) Miller of Millsboro, DE and Emma Weeks of Cherry Hill. Grandchildren, David Wilmer Jr. (Captain), Dominique Wilmer (Dominick), Aleya Stanley,  Alexis Stanley, Allure Stanley, Durin Bell (Doomey) and Great Granddaughter, Azaiah Wilmer

William, Bill, Mr. B, Butler, Daddy, Uncle, Brother, Grandpop, Friend - leaves a large delegation of nephews, nieces, family and Special Friends too numerous to name.  All of us were acquainted with him in various ways.  We will miss his booming voice, helping spirit, road side assistance and daily telephone calls.
