Obituary of Irma Charles
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15 NIV
Our beloved Irma (Mama) Charles, resident of Kissimmee, Florida, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on October 5th, 2018, in her home at the age of 83 years.
Irma was born to Victor Thomas and Teony Durocher on January 3rd, 1935 in Port Au Prince, Haiti where she was raised. She was wed to Pierre Max Francois and was widowed at the time of his death in December of 1990.
Irma spent a great number of years working in retail at Saks Fifth Avenue. She faithfully served as a Deaconess at Poinciana Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kissimmee, FL after transferring her membership from her former church in 2006.
She was a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. Irma, known to many as Mama or Tati Mama, personified the word selfless, was the earthly image of grace and the epitome of faith. She was deeply loved and adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is sadly missed by her husband, Lionel Charles of Kissimmee, FL, son Lesly Francois of Williamstown, NJ, grandchildren, Christopher, Corey, Christina, and Chase, and sister Adeline. Irma will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sabina Francois, and siblings Carlo, Edner, and Christine Thomas.
