Geneva worked various jobs in the Camden/Philadelphia area. One most memorable to her and one that she loved was at Cooper Hospital as a Hospital Attendant. She later moved to Atlantic City where she worked as a waitress at The Parrot and Fishery restaurants, but she is most known for her role working in the Atlantic City school system. She began her career in the school system as a Community Agent at Pennsylvania Avenue School and Westside Complex (now Dr. Martin L. Geneva later worked at other restaurants and establishments in the Atlantic City area as well as a receptionist at the Division of Civil Rights.
Geneva loved and cherished her siblings: Carrie Barnes (Alphonso) of Baltimore, Maryland, Emma Street of Burlington, North Carolina, Sylvia Rogers also of Burlington, Elijah Street (Carlethia) of Baltimore, Maryland, Curley Mae Street (deceased), and John Henry Street (deceased). She also had a special sibling bond with her Camden, New Jersey cousins; Loretta Carver, Gertrude Carver, Eileen Trader, Lester Carver, Thaddeus Carver, Shirley Elliott, Raymond Carver, Lawrence Carver, Clarence Carver, and Kenneth Carver; deceased – Lorenzo Carver, Gloria Johnson, Zelda Davis, and Cathleen Carver. There are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who also were very dear to her heart.
Geneva had a full life, well lived, with lots of love, joy, travel and humor.
