It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carter Eugene “Babs” Browne (Sicklerville, NJ). Carter was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Thomasine Deleaver Browne and Dewitt L. Browne of Essex County, VA. Educated in Philadelphia, he graduated from Overbrook High School in 1945 and entered the Army. After a successful 20-year career in the military, Carter retired with distinction as a Major in 1966. He launched a second career with IBM as a Leadership Development Director and retired in 1988.
Carter was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Browne (2014) and sister, Christine Wharton (2007), brother, Dewitt Browne (1994), sister Margaret S. Browne (2015) and sister Thelma J. Grobes (2017).
Carter is survived by his wife Cecilia Hart, sons; Craig C. Browne (wife/ Yvonne), Don E. Browne; Brian L. Browne (wife/Sandra), and stepdaughter Andrea Hart. In addition, he has 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Carter, Dad, Pop Pop … you will be missed but never forgotten.
