Obituary of Willie Self, Jr.

Willie Self Jr. was born November 22, 1928 in McCormick, SC to the late Willie and Inez Self. As a teenager his family moved to West Berlin, NJ where he remained a long-time resident. He received his formal education from Lower Camden County Regional High School (which is now Overbrook). Willie enlisted into the Army at a young age, received many metals and served in the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the Army, he married the love of his life Hazel in 1953. They had eight children with this union. After growing up and exploring the world, Willie accepted Christ and got baptized because he knew without GOD there was no salvation. He didn't often find his way to church but you would find him often watching the televangelists on the television. Willie worked various construction jobs and retired from Johns Millville. He enjoyed taking his family on yearly trips, hunting, fishing, cracking jokes and spending time with the ones he loved. Willie went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Virtua Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his sisters Valerie Keys (John - living), Deanna (Shawn-living); his brother Arthur Self (Maxine) and his son Willie III. Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife Hazel; sister Linda (Moses-deceased); seven children: Charles, Sherry (Clent), Tina (Johnny), Jeffrey (Angie-deceased), Jacqueline (Franklin), Tracey (Larry) and Karen. Also 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
