Obituary of Deborah V. Hill

Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Deborah Hill peacefully passed away in Sicklerville, NJ at the home of her son and daughter-in- love on the morning of December 5, 2020. She is predeceased by her father George E. Foster, mother Catherine Foster, brother George L. Foster (Marsha), father/mother-in-love George V. Hill, Sr. and Mary E. Hill, sister-in-love Carromelle Forman (David). Deborah was born in Providence, Rhode Island and grew up in the tight knit Admiral Terrace community. She was educated in the Providence Public Schools System and graduated from Hope High School. Later in life, she attended Glassboro State University (now Rowan University), in Glassboro, NJ and graduated from Lincoln University, located in Lincoln, PA, with a Master’s Degree in Human Services. She also attended Fielding University working towards her PhD in Human Services. Deborah dedicated her life to helping and taking care of others. She coordinated shelter services for domestic violence survivors in Gloucester, Salem, and Camden counties. From 2009 to 2011, she was a member of the Board of Trustees at the New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence (NJCEDV) and during her entire career, she served as an active member of their Women of Color Task Force (WOCTF). Anyone who knew Deborah, knew she had a quick wit and was the life of the party. If there was music playing, regardless if it were on the radio or at a party, she was dancing. She loved line dancing and doing the cha-cha. She had a way of remembering everyone’s birthday (pre- Facebook) and always called all her loved ones on their special day. She was loved by many people. She was known as “mom” by her children’s friends, staff she supervised, classmates, and colleagues. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Deborah’s legacy lives on via, her husband of 49 years: George V. Hill, Jr.; two daughters: Casondra Hill-Cole (Emanuel) and Danielle Scott (Eric); one son: George V. Hill, III (Alia); seven grandchildren: Kendra, Nyasia, Amar’e, Eric Jr., Dasoni, Khloe, and Kendal; one sister: Barbara Briggs (Jerome), three brothers-in-love: Michael B. Hill (Debra), Edward C.
