Edith Corsey, age 66, was crowned in eternity on July 20, 2021, with her loved ones by her side.
A resident of Gloucester County, New Jersey. She was born February 2, 1955, in Tappahannock, Virginia to the late Clarence Green and Margaret (Ross) Green. The family relocated to Deptford Township, New Jersey where she attended Deptford Township Public Schools.
A woman truly devoted to serving others, Edith worked in hospitality and retired from Grandview Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After retiring from Grandview, she was
employed with the Woodbury Day Care Center nurturing and caring for children. Children loved her and would affectionately call her “Ms. Edie”. She was known to be a safe place and refuge for anyone in need. This was an attribute and labor of love she embraced as a legacy passed down from her mother.
In early 2006, Edith accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She became a member of Spoken Word Church in Woodbury, New Jersey. She immediately began ushering, working in
the hospitality and youth ministries. The joy of the Lord became her strength and light. Her faithfulness to the Lord was evident by her heart’s posture to serve wherever there was a need.
She enjoyed dancing, selling dinners, and fellowshipping with family and friends. She was tender hearted, outgoing, caring, and sensitive to the needs of others. Her selfless nature and acts of kindness were attributes admired by those who knew her.
She is predeceased by her father Clarence Green, mother, Margaret (Ross) Green, brother Clarence E. Green, and sister, Cynthia C. Hundley Green.
Edith is survived by her loving daughter, Nicole (Kayode) Johnson, loving son, Anthony (Jacinta) Green, and special son, William Latane. Her legacy will continue through the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Dashon Johnson, Davon Johnson, Zayvon Johnson, Zakeya Johnson, Yazmine Johnson Marshall, Trinidy Johnson, Milani Johnson Marshall, Tonie (Keyhana), Taliayh, Apollo, and Achilles. She is survived by two sisters, Ilet Louise Green and Melissa K. Brown Eley both of Woodbury, New Jersey, and brother, John Lee Smith, of Glassboro, New Jersey. She leaves to cherish nieces, Dr. T’Onya Green of Alabama, Catherine Smith of Woodbury, New Jersey, Daisanay Green, Deizhay Green, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
