Obituary of Sontina Remolyer Weal

It was on October 31, 1969, the late Mrs. Remolyer Weal was asked a very important question by her obstetrician. “Mrs. Weal, would you like a trick or a treat?”. With the reply of “Treat”, her second child with husband Raymond R. Weal Sr was born. Their daughter, Sontina Remolyer Weal. Although her legal name was gifted as a promise to a kind person in her mother’s life, there was a desire to give her a nickname. Something more personal to her parents. After all, she was a Halloween baby. Mrs. Weal lovingly suggested “Pumpkin”. But Mr. Weal had another name in mind. Something unique. Something unforgettable. Something that may shape her personality and who she would grow to be like. And as he will tell it, something that would fit the less than 1 hour old baby that would hold her head up in the nursery to look around (or just be nosey).So, “Pie” it was for her lifetime to family. Her mother’s prayer was that Sontina would be raised and live a life as what her name means, “Little Follower of Christ”. Although she attended Catholic Schools from grades 2-8, Sontina certainly was active in the Baptist denomination of which her mother was raised and chose to raise all of her children. Baptized at the age of 12, she served on the Junior usher board, choir member, junior assistant to church clerk and anywhere else she may have been needed....or where her mommy may have given a little loving nudge. But as all children do, Sontina had to find her own way through life. After graduating Edgewood Senior High School in 1988 (and receiving a nice set of luggage as a graduation gift...do you think that was a hint?), she moved to North Carolina to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. It was with her late mother’s words of “We need a roof over our head, lights on in our house and food on our table. So if you need any money, I suggest you get a job”, Sontina truly began to learn the lessons of the world. More importantly, what it means to have a relationship and depend upon her Heavenly Father. If ever the song “God Provides” was more true. Even though, she was not able to complete her studies at UNCG, she went back home to New Jersey in 1991, began full time work at Shoprite of Berlin and also continued her schooling full time as well. Graduating from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 1995. Proving that even when things don’t go as you planned, there is a way. Keep pressing on. Sontina began her long career in the mortgage industry in 1997. This industry that may have taken her from company to company (very normal in this industry ), but if would be where she would obtain much knowledge and also gain a strong sisterhood (they know who they are) until the day she was called home. What is in a name? (besides all that different interpretations of her name she received) S is for strength, there when needed O is for original, one of a kind (yes, with that laugh, yes she was) N is for nurturing, the care you provide to all T is for treasure, that of your friendship I is for ideals, no higher N is for neatness, your orderly way A is for action, something to take now The love, the laugh and even the random dance moves (which once may have resulted in being taken out of the job via ambulance), will be with us always. Weal III (Asha Weal), Nephew, Raven Weal, Niece, Essence Weal, Uncle, Arizona DeVane (Annette DeVane), Uncle, Donald Lenal DeVane (Sarah DeVane), Uncle, William DeVane (Jennifer DeVane), Aunt, Dianne Clack, Aunt, Jerusha Patterson, Aunt Mary Delores Emmanuel. Great Nieces: Arielle Rayne, Allanah R, Naomi, Ariel, Paris, and Novah, and a number of great uncles, aunts and cousins.
