Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia Ardella Carter was born on February 18, 1929 to the late Frank Henry and Mabel Mary James. She was the only girl and had three older brothers Eugene, Frank Jr., and Horace. Virginia was educated in the Palmyra school district, graduating from Palmyra High School in June 1947. She worked for Bell Telephone Company in New York City, Philadelphia and Camden until her retirement from Verizon Communications, Haddonfield, in 1982. Following retirement, she worked part time in the Riverside school district through the Green Thumb program as an office assistant. Virginia accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age and became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in 1941. She was a faithful soprano singing in the Young Adult and Sanctuary Choirs. She loved to sing with the choir as they performed all along the east coast including performing at the World’s Fair in New York City. On September 17, 1955 Virginia married the love of her life, Benjamin Carter. From this union God blessed the couple with three children; Renee Denise, Brian Wayne, and Rodney Allan. She was a funny, loving, caring, supportive, mother. Virginia loved to travel with her husband and friends visiting Bermuda, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Mexico, Nova Scotia and many other places. She also enjoyed camping and her first love, clothes shopping. She was quite the fashion diva. Virginia was called home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Renee (Grover), Brian (Megan), and Rodney, grandchildren, Janelle (Quinton), Timothy (LaShawnda), Grover, Justin, Daina, Benjamin and Bryanna, seven great-grandchildren, her cousin and best friend Grace Moody, sister in law Mercedes Carter, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
