I want friends and family to know that Joe was well like among his circle of classmates at Darden High School, Wilson, NC and the intellectual. Joe were making "A's" in math and science while we were struggling to pass our grade. People don't know that he could have been another Norman Rockwell, he made it look so easy to draw free-hand during his early class studies. The thing that he was most proud of was to be able give back to a school that made it possible for him to achieved a relatively successful life. I will miss you my friend, I hope to carryon the work we started for the school.

Joe and I were classmates in Wilson, NC, you can say I knew him all my life. We graduated from Darden High School in 1956'. We had kept in touch over the years, especially the last twenty years we go back home to our High School Alumni Weekend during Memorial Day. Him and I gave $1000 dollar scholarship for the past five years; we saw that they didn't offer scholarships to a deserving athlete. We wanted to filled that void. This year I was going to ask Joe if he wanted set up an endowment but I never got the chance. I just may set it up anyway, I am sure Joe would be highly appreciative. That's the kind of person he was, always trying to help young people get head start in life.
