Obituary of Richard Harrison, Sr.
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Harrison Sr. was born to Earl and Helen G. Harrison Jr., on December 14, 1948. He was one of nine children. He was raised in Lindenwold, NJ and was baptized at White Oak Baptist Church.
Richard, aka “Ricky” or “Rich”, attended Lindenwold Public Schools and graduated from Overbrook High School in 1967. Richard loved sports and was a stand-out football and track star. While at Overbrook he met the love of his life, Letha Marie Corbin. The two were wed in holy matrimony on July 15, 1967. Together they were blessed with five beautiful children; three sons and two daughters.
Shortly after graduating high school, Richard began his career working for Berlin Fence Company in Berlin, NJ. He then moved on to Owens Corning FiberGlass in Barrington, NJ where he would spend the next 23 years until their closing. He ended his career at Quikrete in Berlin, NJ where he worked as a forklift operator for over 20 years. He loved his job so much that after his retirement in January 2019, he returned seven months later and worked for an additional three years, until his unexpected passing.
Richard dedicated his life to his family. He loved watching his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, traveling, fishing, collecting memorabilia, and sitting out front of his house listening to music. Family time was precious to Ricky and the many family traditions he created will be cherished forever.
On January 21, 2023, God chose to call his child home. His memory will be forever in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents; Earl and Helen G. Harrison Jr.; Brothers; Alfred G. and Anthony G. Harrison. Sisters; Christine G. Maxwell and Marcia H. Boyer.
