Obituary of Enrique J. Toomer, Sr.

Enrique Jose Toomer, affectionally known as Rique, was born on July 3, 1966, to the late Cornelius Toomer Sr. and Orga Toomer in Philadelphia, PA. Rique was born the youngest of the ten children inspiring a lifetime of love, connection and tending to his family tree. Rique spent much of his life in Berlin, New Jersey before relocating to Pine Hill in his teenage years. He attended Berlin Township Schools, graduating Overbrook High school as an athlete, a well-known friend to all, protector, lover of music, family man and a talented craftsman. Among his many gifts, Rique created and crafted well with his hands and served through carpentry. Throughout his life, he worked for various companies sharing his skills around the world. He loved to travel and explore new places, sharing his love, curiosity and adventurous spirit with both strangers and friends. Rique was an extremely proud father and adored his children deeply. He had two children, Brittany and Enrique (Little Rique) with Angelique "Angie" Acevedo. Rique also embraced Angie's children, Donte and Tianah as if they were his own. Rique went on to have to have three more children, River, Niles and Zoe with Alicia Santiago. His children were priceless to him and in 2021, he was extremely proud to become a grandfather to Levi and Westley. Rique wore many titles: Dad, Grandfather, Brother, Son, Cousin, Uncle and Friend. He was vibrant and the life of every Celebration. Rique savored every moment of life. He loved to laugh, talk, learn, dance, listen to music, watch sports, and travel the world. He was boundless in his love often sending postcards and souvenirs to family members and friends the various places he visited. Most of all he always noticed the value of the moment. Rique constantly captured life from his eyes through photography. He was simple and truly fulfilled by being surrounded by family. From the oldest, to the youngest family member, Rique made it not only his duty to be part of everyone's life but to take time to know everyone. He impacted so many with his infectious personality and genuine love. His legacy lives on and the familiar form we've all grown to know, and love will be Deeply missed. Rique was preceded in death by his grandmother (Louise), mother (Olga), Father (Cornelius Sr.) brother (Nealie), and sisters (Sandra) (Debra). He leaves to Cherish his memories, two daughters, Brittany and Zoe. Three Sons, Enrique Jr., River and Niles. Two grandchildren, Levi and Westley. Six Sisters, Pam Judah, Barbara Bullock, Shawn DeAngelis (Mossimo), Denise Covington (Kyle), Antoinette Schwartz (James), and Doreen Toomer. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he loved dearly.
