Obituary of Estella Blackwell

Estella Blackwell, the 2nd of nine children, was born to Alvin and Florence Dixon (nee Blocker) in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey on January 28, 1953. Stell attended Oakcrest High School. In youth, Stell was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and Macedonia Baptist Church in Egg Harbor. Stell later joined Heavenway Baptist Church in Egg Harbor Township, where she served on the Usher Board, Culinary Board and sang on the choir until her health failed. Stell married her high school sweetheart David Wendell Blackwell and to this union three children were born, David Djuan, Alvin Antrell, and Jovell Lamar. Stell loved shopping and hanging out with family and friends. Stell began her career at Shulton Company Perfumes and Colognes, Wheaton Glass Company, Sears, and Walmart. Stell was someone who always let you know what was on her mind and where she stood on any subject. But when all was said and done, Stell had love for everyone. She loved her children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, her nieces, and nephews. When the children were younger, she would always have them over her house. She loved her family. Having completed her mission assigned to her by God, Stell entered eternal rest on Tuesday night, August 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband David Wendell Blackwell, Sons: Alvin Antrell, and Jovell Lamar. She leaves to cherish her memory: Son David Djuan, Daughter-in-law Joyce Dixon, Grandchildren: Nyalsha, All’Quan, Joyce, Saige and Siare, one Great Granddaughter: Nianna, Siblings: Alvina (Kermit) Garcia, Darell (Mia) Dixon, Florence Pam Berry, Alvin Dixon, Linda McClinton, Andrew (Connie) Dixon, Joe Dixon, Christopher (Pat) Dixon, Godson: Deontae Gregory, two Goddaughters: Florence Dixon and Angela Porter, Godmother: Estella Williams and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, other Family and Friends. A special thanks to Stell’s right hand, Iola Williams, for everything you did for our sister. Every time we talked to her; she would say Iola did this for me. You were there to meet her every need.
