Obituary of Otis Rawlins Jr.

Otis Rawlins Jr., of Chesilhurst, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the age of 87.  Otis was born in Monessen, PA, on July 20, 1937 to Otis Rawlins Sr. and Rosabelle (nee McKenna) Rawlins. Otis grew up in Lawnside, NJ and after graduating high school, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

After his retirement from the Air Force in 1976, Otis worked for the N.J. Department of Motor Vehicles until his second retirement in 2002.

He was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and enjoyed drawing, singing, word puzzles and playing with the cats. A self proclaimed "King of the Castle", he loved working on the house and lawn and putting up decorations at Christmastime. His happiest times were those spent with family especially at cookouts and during the holidays.

Otis is predeceased by his parents, Otis Rawlins Sr. and Rosabelle (nee McKenna) Rawlins; sisters Clara Worthington and Bert Hill; and brother Thomas Collins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hideko (nee Yamada) Rawlins; children Carolyn McDonald, Otis Rawlins III, and Naomi Rawlins; brother Anthony Hill and a host of relatives and friends.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
