Ida Mae Pointer, a devoted servant of God and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully, reuniting with her Lord and Savior on January 8,2025. Born on October 11, 1938, to William and Sarah Woods, Ida Mae grew up in the Berlin Township School District, where she developed a strong foundation of faith and a deep love for helping others, Her parents, William and Sarah, and her beloved husband of nearly 64 years, Gearld N. Pointer, who passed just two months ago, preceded her in death.

On November 21, 1959, Ida Mae married the love of her life, Gerald N. Pointer. Together, they built a family filled with love, faith, and resilience. Their union was blessed with five cherished children: Rodalyn Morine, Glen Pointer, Geoffrey, Tequa Pointer, and Gerald N. Pointer Jr., who passed away in July 2017, each a reflection of the love and devotion that Ida Mae poured into her family. In her career and personal life, she exemplified a spirit of service, always putting the needs of others first. Her long-time membership at Green Grove Church was a testament to her unwavering faith. Music and prayer were at the heart of Ida Mae’s life. She was known for her early-morning piano sessions, filling her home with the soulful melody of “Walking Around Heaven All Day” while fervently praying for her loved ones. Her children and grandchildren often woke to the sound of her joyful singing and heartfelt prayers, feeling the depth of her love for them.
