Obituary of Loureynold Austin

Very quietly and peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 12, 2013, God in his infinite mercy, sent an angel to earth to bear the bright spirit of Loueynold Austin away to a land that is free from sickness, pain, sorrow and death. No breathing machine, no needles, no meds, no knew pain, no stress, just peace, joy, love and grand re-unions with a ll the folks who've gone home. Hr mansion was ready and God gave her the keys. Loureynold Ann Austin was born March 26, 1941 to Mamie and Samuel Austin in Palmyra, NJ. I joined a family of three sisters and one brother. Twin sister, Sharla and Barbara came after me. Sharla, Evelyn and Ida Mae (Ikie) have all been reunited with Mom and Daddy at God's throne along with my brother, Joseph. I attended Palmyra Schools and graduated in June 1959. High School was a lot of learning and fun. I was in Drum and Bugle Corps and was first Black selected to be a cheerleader. Our school burned down in December, 1957: Harriett and Frannie Johnson and I were on the front page of the Philadelphia Daily News the next day showing our grief with very big "grins". Then, on to graduation and a new beginning. After having been employed at various businesses, including Sears, Burlington County Human Services and a Para-Legal assistant, I was hired by Dr. Wilma Farmer in January 1998 as her secretary. What a delight it was to work for her! I transferred to Brimm Medical Arts High School in 2004 and retired in 2010. In 1952, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior, was Baptized and received the Right Hand of Fellowship into the Evergreen Baptist Church. I became a member of the Intermediate Choir, under the direction of Mr. William P. Austin. After the untimely death of William, I volunteered to be the teacher of the Senior Class, in his absence. Deacon Austin (my Daddy) told me more than once that he expected me to last about 4 to 6 months. Much to the surprise of both of us, I taught for 10 years. My affiliation with the Church School ended in 1979, as Assistant Superintendent and Senior Class Teacher, where teaching the Word o God to my high school students was very rewarding. Together we learned there can be humor in studying God's word. Some of our Christmas and easter "plays" were as funny as they were spiritual. I have always enjoyed studying the word and attending Wednesday night bible study with our excellent teacher, Deaconess Campbell was a priority for me. I have formed a very special bond and friendship with Pastor and First Lady Townsend, St. John Baptist Church. They readily accept my special reference to Pastor Townsend, as my "other Pastor". They are very loving and inspiring to me. I am extremely blessed to have them in my life. I met and fell in love with Douglass Washington in 1959 and he with me. Our love and devotion for each other remained steadfast until his passing in 2006. We loved to travel and our passports reflect the places we visited. Attending the NCAA final four games were a "Must" for us. We both loved dogs and shared the love of "Thor", "fury", and our beloved "Storm". If you are reading this, know that I love you and thank you for whatever manner you have touched my life. God Bless, Jeane will finish it. What more can I say, Ren, Reynold or Rennie as she was known by, loved her life and enjoyed life. She had a sparkling and ready smile, especially for the camera. She loved good food, good music, good friends, her family and she enjoyed fellowship with several area congregations. Never to be forgotten, Ren leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted sisters, Jeane Butler and Barbara (Bobbi) Austin, nieces Karen Bullock, Sheryl Butler, Tracii Butler-Proctor (Anthony), Kim Brown (Jerald), Leslie Cleveland, Lynn Jackson, Carol Montgomery and Keisha Streater; nephews Michael Butler (Sherl), Terry Flippen, Thomas Irby (Emma). 21 great nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Lorrane Austin, life-long friends, Carol Wright, Maxine Randall, Harriett Nickens, Doris Griggs, Elaine Edmonds, Frannie & Theodore Scott. Extended family, Step-son, Craig McEady (Doug), The Washington Family, Grey, Roz and Gregory Davis and Dr. Wilma Farmer, several close cousins, many friends and the Evergreen Church Family. She was predeceased by our parents, Mamie and Samuel Austin, sisters Evelyn, Ikie and Sharla, brother Joe, and her fiancé', Douglas Washington. Her beloved "Storm" passed away on Friday February 15, 2013. His ashes will be interred with her.
