Lateef Tyrekk Scarlett was born in Bronx, New York on July 31, 1991. He is the only son of Carey and Peter Onakomaya. As a child, Lateef was a happy kid who loved to sing with his mic and dance to reggae music. He attended elementary school in Far Rockaway, Queens until his family moved to Clayton, New Jersey in 2004. Lateef attended Clayton High School and Gloucester County Institute of technology where he studied Engineering and graduated in 2009. He was a member of the Drama Club, Marching Band and Wrestling Team. He also attended Job Corps where he received a Safety Officer Award in 2012 for his dedication and committment to their Collision Repair Program. Lateef worked at several establishments like Arby's, ShopRite, Walmart, UPS and DearLiving Incorporated. His employers described him as a hardworking, dedicated team leader. Lateef was very artistic and creative musically. He even DJ'd at local parties and bars. He loved to draw and enjoyed reading Anime comics. Lateef was famous for skateboarding through the neighborhood "greeting his neighbors". He had a lot of friends who meant the world to him. He had a warm personality and a cheerful spirit which brought his neighbors and family together. Lateef was adored by all and he will be sadly missed by his mother carey; father Peter; biological father Sylvester; sister Anyia; grandmother Gwendolyn; grandfather Carlton and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. May his soul rest in peace and God's perpetual light shine upon him!
