Emma Julia Baylock peacefully entered into immortality on Friday, August 9, 2013. in her home at West Berlin, New Jersey. Born on February 5, 1921 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late William and Cora Knight, the family later moved to Cape May, New Jersey. Locally educated in her state, Thomas Baylock entered her life in 1939. They were married in 1939. They were married for 68 years before his passing in February 2008. Joining St. John's United Methodist Church in 2002 under the auspices of Reverend Calvin R. Woods, she was a dedicated member and faithful to the Black History Scholarship Foundation. Those left to cherish her memory are seven children, Kenneth Baylock (Sandra) of Willingboro, NJ, Oveta Butler of Camden, NJ, Corlette Baylok (Kristin Nauffts) of Stowe, OH, Sharon Baylock (John Covington) of West Atco, NJ, Edwin Baylock (Kathy) of Canton, Ohio, Perry Baylock (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, NC and Kirston Baylock of Collingswood, NJ. Cora Molson of Cape May, NJ is the last surviving sibling of the original Knight family. Emma is also survived by twenty grandchildren; fifty three great grandchildren; twenty four great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
