Obituary of Robert Earl McCann

Robert Earl McCann was born in Camden, New Jersey on February 1, 1957 to Rita McCann and Fred Lewis. Robert was well known as “Robbie”. He attended the public school system of Winslow Township, graduating from Edgewood Regional High School, Tansboro, New Jersey. He later attended and graduated from Glassboro College, Glassboro, New Jersey. Robbie worked as a paralegal for his community, family and friends. He was an activist for the State of New Jersey. Later, he was elected as a Councilman for the Borough of Chesilhurst. Also, he was a firefighter for West Atco and Chesilhurst. Robbie loved his music, dancing and all sports. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of West Atco under the pastorate of Reverend Lee DeRamus. Later, he became a member and trustee at First Baptist Church of Chesilhurst under the leadership of Apostle Charlie Odom. Robbie was preceded in death by his father, Fred Lewis; his grandparents, Walter and Martha McCann; three aunts and one uncle. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Rita Dickerson; one sister, Monica Aviles and one brother, Michael Dickerson, all of Chesilhurst; five daughters, Krystin, Taisha, Mercedes, Robin and Amber; five grandchildren and a special lady, Wendy Ganges. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
