Obituary of Bruce William Monroe
Please share a memory of Bruce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bruce William Monroe, age 30, of Galloway Township, NJ was born March 22, 1986 to Louis “Buster” and Patricia “Patsy” Monroe. He departed this life suddenly on Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, at home.
Bruce was an inspiration and friend to many, whose kind and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who came in contact with him. His tremendous desire to help others led him to pursue a career in law enforcement—a boyhood dream, that as a man, he never lost sight of making a reality.
Bruce attended Galloway Township Public Schools and graduated from Absegami High School in 2004. He then proceeded to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2009. While at Eastern Shore, he served as an intern for the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and became a captain for the UMES Campus Police.
Upon graduating, Bruce returned home to be with his family while continuing to pursue his professional aspirations. While home, Bruce enjoyed a successful career in retail at the Timberland Factory and Adidas Outlet stores in Atlantic City. He also worked in loss prevention at Macy's. His unparalleled work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him numerous awards and accolades. He was a cherished team member who will be sorely missed by his colleagues.
Although he was excelling in retail, Bruce decided to serve his country while fulfilling his dreams and desires to travel the world. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was excited to set sail later this month.
Another one of Bruce’s loves was sports. An avid fan, he loved playing and watching basketball, running cross country, and swimming. Bruce also enjoyed listening to music, playing pool, and could always be heard laughing loudly at movies.
With his journey into the Navy unfortunately cut short due to his sudden departure, Bruce will now continue his voyage with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Bruce was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Louis and Shirley Monroe.
In addition to his parents, Bruce leaves to cherish his unforgettable memory, his sister, Tiara Monroe of Charlotte, NC, his brother, Louis Lamar Monroe of Galloway Township, NJ, his maternal grandparents, Frank and Leatha Tolbert of Atlantic City, NJ, his godparents, William “Wong” and Sheryl Marable of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
