Odaree Cain was born to the late James and Wilhelmina Cain, on November 18, 1932, in Monroe, North Carolina. Very quietly and peacefully on November 16, 2016, the Almighty God in his infinite wisdom gently closed the eyes of our beloved Odaree, at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Marlton, NJ. Odaree moved to Philadelphia, Pa, in the late 1940’s. He attended Philadelphia Public Schools and graduated from Overbrook High School in 1950. During his high school years, he became skilled in the art of boxing. He was acknowledged by the Philadelphia Fire Department for his heroism for saving two friends from a burning home. He joined the United States Army in 1951. He fought in the Korean Conflict with the 2 nd Armored Division, known as HELL ON WHEELS, and was honorably discharged in 1954. Odaree was employed by the City of Philadelphia, PA, where he retired after 20 years of service. During his career he worked as a street repair supervisor. He later became employed as a security guard supervisor at Tucker House Nursing Home in Philadelphia, PA, for 10 years. Odaree met and married his sweetheart, Beatrice McIntosh, on November 21, 1987. They shared a beautiful blended family and were blessed with sixteen children. Odaree accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and became a member of St. John Methodist Church in West Berlin, under the leadership of Reverend Calvin Woods. He joined the Fishers of Men and church van ministries. Odaree often expressed how he trusted God and knew that his life was in God’s hands. He always read the Bible, prayed and praised the name of Jesus. Odaree joined Tuscan Morning Star No.48 Masonic Lodge in 1989, in Phila. Pa., Melchizedek Chapter No. 15 in 1991, Knights of Pythagoras Council No. 7 in 1992, Union Commandery No.1 Knights Templar in 1993, and the Philadelphia Council No. 1 in 1993. OC, as he was affectionately known by friends and family enjoyed life. He loved to play pool and listen to music. He would travel to Philadelphia and spend time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Odaree was preceded in death by his children; Margaret, Catherine, and Roosevelt Wiggins. Odaree’s life and precious memories will be celebrated by his wife, Beatrice; six daughters, Kandi Cain, India DiValerio (Roy), Zettie Wiggins, Lynise Roache, Annette Woodson and Leslie Carter all of Philadelphia, PA; seven sons, Darnell Woodson Cain, of Berlin, NJ, Narvis Morine (Beth) of Pine Hill, NJ, Rodney Morine (Felicia) of Opelousas, LA, Nathanial Morine, Hershal and Martin Wiggins, Roscoe Woodson all of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, James Cain of Maryland; one uncle, Walter Cain, of Philadelphia, PA; good friend Mary O’neil and play sister, Fannie Booker both of Philadelphia, Pa; twenty-one grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; brother- in-law, Jerome McIntosh, six sisters- in-law, Marian Martin (Albert), Lucille and Gwendolyn McIntosh, Loretta Robinson (Belton), Julia Woods, Clarice Carter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
