Obituary of Dorothy R Smith

Dorothy Lucille Raynor Smith, the only girl of four children was born in Philadelphia PA, on December 23, 1923 to the late Calvin and Sammor Raynor. GOD called her from labor to reward in the early morning hours of February 23, 2017. Although Dorothy grew up in North Philadelphia, she spent most of her childhood summers in Windsor, North Carolina. This is where both sides of her family called home prior to their move up North. Dorothy received her education in the Philadelphia School District and not long after graduation she began her 30 plus year career with The Campbell Soup Company. In November of 1949, Dorothy was united in Holy Matrimony with the LOVE of her Life, Francis D Smith. "Dot " as he affectionately called her let Francis know early on that she wasn't used to living in an apartment so, in the early 1950's together they broke ground and began to build their home in Palmyra. Their dream would not be complete until the arrival of their daughter Darlene. Dorothy accepted the Lord at an early age and joined Evergreen Baptist Church after moving to Palmyra. Dot loved to usher and was faithful to her duties...always on her post, eagerly greeting everyone with a smile. Throughtout the years Dot's favorite pastime was to relax with her jigsaw puzzle. Dorothy, Dottie, Dot, Mom, G-mom you are loved and you are going to be missed!!! Dorothy leaves precious memories with her devoted daughter Darlene, her "pride and joy" Grandson Maurice, her canine buddy CB, 3 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, her 'other daughter' Barbara, the rest of the kids she thought of as her own, and a host of other relatives and friends.
