Obituary of Robert L. Flipping, Jr.
Robert L. Flipping Jr. departed this earth on May 10th, surrounded by his son Randall L. and daughter-in-law, Jackie Mazzola Flipping. He is survived by his former wife of 28 years, Jane M. Flipping, his other son, Robert L. Flipping III and his wife Suzan K. Flipping, his daughter, Angelia Keider-Flipping, his grandchildren, Roberta, Robyn, Randall Jr., Astiana, and Robert IV, his great grandchildren, Dominique, Brandon, Ryan, and Olivia. He was predeceased by his parents Robert L. Flipping Sr. and Pearl G. Flipping, and his sister Nancy Flipping.
Robert was a 1945 graduate of Atlantic City High School, a 1949 graduate of Howard University, and a 1951 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Embalming. As a non-traditional adult student, Robert also acquired an accounting degree from Atlantic Community College. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean war and retired as a 1st Sergeant from the Army National Guard. Robert had managed the R. L. Flipping Funeral Home in both Atlantic City and Pleasantville for many years after the deaths of his parents. He also worked as a dealer since the original opening of Resorts International Hotel/Casino. Robert was a Mason serving as treasurer for the Masonic Temple located on New York Avenue in Atlantic City. Robert was an avid bowler and pool player his entire life and bowled in numerous leagues in the area which included Shore Bowling Alley, The Boardwalk Bowl, Verona Lanes, and King Pin Lanes.
