Obituary of Lawreather Walker
Lawreather Walker departed this life on Monday, November 13, 2017, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at UPMC Pinnacle Hospital. Born in Milmay to the late George and Rinner (Brown) Graham, she had been a resident of this area all of her life.
For many years, she was employed at DeRossi and Son Clothing Factory in Vineland. She retired from Vineland Developmental Center as a Cottage Training Technician. After her retirement, she worked in the foster grandparent program in Vineland.
Mrs. Walker was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Vineland. For many years, she was a member of New Mt. Calvary Baptist in Mays Landing, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, later as Superintendent of the Sunday School, and had been a faithful usher. Ushering was her ministry, and she helped serve at many services at various churches whenever the need arose. She was a member of the South Jersey Ushers Association.
She was an author in her own right, and sponsored an annual program which highlighted a parallel of soap operas to the bible. She also sang with Rev. Charles Hawkins and the Voice of Deliverance Crusade Choir.
Mrs. Walker leaves to cherish fond memories: her son, Clifford Walker of Dorothy; her four siblings, Vernese Smith of Richland, Garfield Graham (Phyllis) of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Bessie Green of Northfield, and Frederick Graham (Cynthia) of Dorothy; a caregiver and niece, Louella Rose (Paul); her goddaughter, Cserelyn Peterson of Mays Landing; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
