Obituary of Mary L. Jones

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Jones was born March 28, 1950 to James Miller and Margaret Miller in Sumpter, South Carolina. Mary was the second eldest of six siblings, two of which has preceded her in death.
While growing up in South Carolina, Mary met and later married Ulysses Jones Jr.and shortly thereafter they moved to Philadelphia, PA. Mary attended high school in the Philadelphia school district and later moved to Camden, NJ.

Mary was a beautiful loving person who enjoyed life and whom people seem to gravitate towards. She was full of life and love for her family and others.

Mary´s calling by nature was as a nurture,r that’s why she chose the healthcare field as her line of work. Mary worked as a certified CNA at various nursing facilities throughout South Jersey

Mary was a God fearing woman of faith who loved her Pastor and her church family but she was also a strong outspoken woman. Mary believed in helping others, if someone told her of an issue they were dealing with she would provide guidance on how they should handle the situation. When necessary she would intervene on their behalf. Mary had a kind and loving heart sometimes to her detriment. She would give you her last if you needed it with no expectation in return.

Mary enjoyed attending church, shopping, going to the park, and chatting with her friends but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary was diagnosed in 2016 with cancer and she refused to let it keep her down her strength kicked into overdrive and she fought her best fight.

However after the passing of her baby girl Érica, Mary´s bright light severely dimmered. She was truly heart broken although she tried very hard to keep her faith and spirits up, she just felt incomplete.

Battling her fight with cancer and the loss of her child soon became too much to bare but Mary fought until the end when God called her home and placed her in Erica´s care.

Mary leaves behind to mourn her four children Joyce Jones, Frank Jones, Margaret Townsend and Joseph Lee. Her grandchildren Shaila, Jarrón Lee her soldier, Justin, little Joe, Ayanna, Omar, Joshua and Jayden. Two son-in-law’s Christ Townsend and Ronald Williams an adopted daughter Tara Hightower, nieces and nephews her longtime friend Tina Lyon along with a host of cousins and friends.
