Obituary of Louise T. Rose
On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, the Lord called our angel to be with him.
Louise Jackie Turner Rose was born on June 5, 1933, the only child of the late Elijah and Grace Turner in Lakewood, New Jersey. She grew up in Palatka, Florida.
Upon obtaining her elementary and secondary education in Palatka, Louise received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Florida A&M University in June,1957 She later received her Master of Education from Antioch University in June,1983.
Louise dedicated her career in education to the School District of Philadelphia and the Willingboro School District. She formed many lifelong relationships with her colleagues and students. Always a student favorite, she was known for her quick wit, infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit. After 41 years teaching physical education and a guidance counselor, Louise retired from the Willingboro School District in 1998.
Louise had a passion for travel and a keen eye for fashion. Her desserts and “sweet tea” recipes are legendary. While she loved many sports, football season was always a favorite in her home.
Louise was a longtime parishioner of Christ The King Episcopal Church in Willingboro, New Jersey. In 1988 she was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Trenton, Alumnae Chapter.
Louise was a dedicated wife and a mother who treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Mom-Mom” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Louise is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Theodore Rose; her 6 children: Debra Adkins (Glenn-predeceased), Tyrone Taylor (Celeste-predeceased), Amy Morgan, Andrea Nixon (Randall), Larthett Gaines (Jacqueline), and Lawrence Gaines (Melissa); two step-children: Terri Rose and Jeffrey Rose; 14 grandchildren: Kelly Nixon (Dante), Dr. Kimberlee Adkins (Eric Neufville), Shannon Newman, Arthur Brown, Jr., Randall Nixon, Matthew Nixon, Danielle Nixon, Preshess Gaines, Roniffe Gaines, Bausnia Gaines, Elijah Gaines, Cameron Gaines, Adrien Gaines, and Keivonn Rose; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, loving extended family and friends.
